Trail Description

The Rio Grande Trail is a gentle trail that follows an old rail alignment from the Aspen Post Offic to the Emma School house. It connects with the Lazy Glen and Roaring Fork Club trails below Old Snowmass. We  refer to this trail in sections - Upper RGT from Aspen Post Office to Woody Creek, Middle RGT from Woody Creek to Lazy Glen, and Lower RGT from Lazy Glen to Emma Schoolhouse. This is a multi use trail open for skiing, snowshoeing, fat-biking, walking and leashed dogs (with the exception of no dogs on the Dart Conservation easement from mile marker 27-28).
