Series Results
Town Cross Country Series, Aspen - The Town Nordic Series is a seven-event race and touring series held throughout the Roaring Fork Valley that emphasizes participation and FUN for all ages and ability levels, racers and non-racers alike. The Ute Mountaineer in Aspen is the promoter for the Series. Events have a festive atmosphere with food, beverages, and raffle prizes. Points are awarded for an individual's age group and overall finish, and are tallied throughout the season. Overall and age group winners will be awarded prizes at the end-of-the-season party on March 2.  Contact the Aspen Cross Country Center for more information (970) 925-2145. Master’s Cross Country Skiing, a new instructional program for intermediate and advanced nordic skiers, will be offered this winter at the Aspen Recreation Center. The city’s Recreation Department and the Ute Mountaineer are partnering to provide the classes, to be taught by certified Ute Mountaineer instructors. Classes will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting December (conditions permitting) from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the ARC grounds, located on Maroon Creek Road across from the Aspen schools campus. Class size is limited to 10 individuals. The cost is free to those who hold an annual Aspen Recreation Department Fun Pass, $5 to other recreation pass holders and $20 for non-passholders. 1 Summit for Life Uphill - In this exciting event, contestants race from the base all the way to the top of Aspen Mountain. They will climb 3,267 vertical feet – over 2.5 miles uphill and at night! 13 Hike for Hope - Race up Buttermilk. Starts at 7:30 a.m. Pre-register at the Ute Mountaineer between January 8-13. Minimum donation of $20 required. Cliff House will also provide a pancake breakfast for only $5; this is not included in race fee. All proceeds go to research for a cure for muscular dystrophy. 1 12TH ANNUAL “ONE FROM THE HEART”, UPHILL RACE AND WALK-UP-ATHON - This year, the race is dedicated to the memory of Chris Bove, a well-loved friend, ski instructor and strong supporter of Challenge Aspen. 100% of the proceeds of the event go directly to both charities. Race and walk pre-registration fee is $35.00 ($40.00 on Race Day) and all participants will receive schwag bags and other surprises. Race participants may use snowshoes, telemark skis, skinny skis or heavy metal (stabilizers are for non-race class). Registration begins at Buttermilk Mountain on SATURDAY, MARCH 1, at 7:00am, and the race begins at 7:30am. Pre-registration at UTE Mountaineer begins early February.
