How is the Nordic Trail System FREE?
Funds to groom, maintain, and build the winter Nordic Trail System come from taxpayer dollars. In 2007, the citizens of Pitkin County generously approved a referendum to fund the Nordic Trail System through Pitkin County's Open Space and Trails program. Previously, the trials had been funded through an annually reviewed Inter-Governmental Agreement between Pitkin County, the City of Aspen, and the Town of Snowmass Village. Today, our Nordic Trail System is publicly owned and FREE for everyone to use. There is no other comparable free trail system in North America. Enjoy!
Why donate to the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Council?
As a non-profit advisory and oversight organization for our Nordic trails, the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Council solicits donations to support special Nordic trail projects and Nordic events that are NOT covered by annual public funding.
Please consider making a donation. 100% of your donation goes toward improving the system or helping Nordic events that allow more people to use and enjoy the trails. Our recent support includes:
